Eduard Sharmazanov to Vice President of Senate of Czech Republic: Azerbaijan Will Be Obliged to Recognize Independence of Artsakh
1 / 3

The visit of the delegation led by the RA NA Vice President, the Head of Armenia-Czech republic Friendship Group Eduard Sharmazanov to the Czech republic continues. On June 28, the RA NA Vice President and the members of the delegation Gagik Melikyan and Vardan Bostanjyan met with Miluše Horská, the Vice President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic Tigran Seyranyan also attended the meeting.

During the meeting issues concerning the stable development of the Armenian-Czech parliamentary relations and the activation of the parliamentary delegations’ mutual visits were discussed. In the development of the Armenian-Czech relations and especially the inter-parliamentary cooperation Mr Sharmazanov evaluated Mrs Horská’s role.

Expressing satisfaction with the current high level of the inter-parliamentary relations, the members of the delegation highlighted the role of the parliamentary Friendship Groups in the development of bilateral ties. The sides also touched upon the necessity of the mutually beneficial and coordinated work of the delegations of the two countries.

Eduard Sharmazanov presented the processes of the legislation harmonisation after the Constitutional reforms in our country, noting that Armenia steadily goes on through institutional reforms. He has underlined that by the transition to the system of the parliamentary government the authorities have been expanded. In this context Mr Sharmazanov touched upon the role of the parliamentary diplomacy and added that from now on we should activate the bilateral relations.

Touching upon the regional developments, the RA NA Vice President has underscored that Armenia is a propagator for exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh problem based on the three well-known principles within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

“At the beginning of the 90s the civilized separation of the Czech Republic and Slovakia and the declaration of two independent states could be also a good precedent for the USSR former entities, but Azerbaijan, instead of it, refused Artsakh people’s right to self-determination, forced war to Artsakh freedom-aspiring people,” Mr Sharmazanov said.

The RA NA Vice President expressed conviction that Azerbaijan will recognize the independence of Artsakh sooner or later. “There is no alternative to the independence of Artsakh,” he underlined.
